Stackable washer/dryer- Washer won't run unless dryer is running

My Kenmore stacked washer/dryer- the washer will only work if the dryer is running. It will only fill up with water and then it won’t wash or do anything at all… The only thing that it will do is when I turn the knob to the spin cycle, it will drain the water. I can’t figure it out. Can someone please help me? It’s not even my washer- I rent but my landlord isn’t being very responsive and I have a 15 month old and DESPERATELY NEED ACCESS TO A FULLY FUNCTIONING WASHER/DRYER!

Call a service tech sounds like you have a wire harness or timer issue with wires crossed over your complaint is unheard of as far as what i’ve seen with laundry centers.
