Pump was clogged, replaced it, now washer fills then just hums. help
Capacitor’s almost never fail, but if you have a really good multi-meter you can check it. It is possible that your motor burned out, but these motors have overload protection so unless that failed that is not the problem.
Make sure your pump was not damaged and is still jammed. That is the most likely problem. Also check the coupling, it could have broken and be jamming things.
Thank you for your answer. The pump is brand new. Wouldn’t the machine still drain if it was the coupler?
Yes, normally the machine would drain if the coupler is broken, but if the pieces are wedged into the connection they could be stopping the motor from turning.
The problem could also be in your switch or even the timer, this type of problem is very difficult to diagnose so you end up trying several things until you get it right.
I have a 25 yr old Whirlpool washer. I noticed it doesn’t spin or agitate on low speed only high speed for both.Could that be the same part that’s causing both problems?
