My Kenmore washer stopped on me today. The machine filled with water, agitated and then stopped. It will not fill up, spin or drain now. I can manually spin the drum.
Is there hope for my washer? Please help.
Start with checking the lid switch. This site will tell you how to by pass it to see if it works when you by pass the lid switch.

Thanks we did that and nothing has helped. I have a feeling we will have to buy a new machine.
Well, it was worth a try. Since the other possible repairs do require some rather costly parts and you have gotten 10+ years out of the machine I think a new one is in order.
My strong recommendation is you stay away from front loaders and anything with a microprocessor control. Microprocessors hate heat, mositure and vibration and a washer has all three.
