Timer did not fix the problem

I replaced the timer and it did not fix the problem.
The washer runs thorugh the wash and agitation cycle and when it get to rinse it stops. The waster does not drain and move on. It stops at the pause after agitation.
When we turn the nob slightly forward, it resumes and the cycle, drains the wash water and spins, then fills with rinse water, then it drains and then it spins. All the things it is suppose to do.
It just stops at the pause after the wash.
I am looking for a suggestion for what is keeping the cycle from moving forward. It is not the timer.
Any and all help and suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you.

Even though it is rare, it IS possible to get a bad timer, right out of the box. I would start by examining the lid switch to make sure it works properly; especially if you do NOT hear any motor action at the spot where the cycle stops.
