Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. Fifteen year old Kenmore 363.78562893 top freezer started dumping a cup or two of water into the bottom of the fridge about two weeks ago. The water appears to come from defrosting, but happens only once per day. Shouldn’t it defrost more often than that?
Anyway, yesterday I took the freezer back wall out and poured water quickly down the drain, and it backed up and overflowed into the bottom of the fridge (which is where it has been coming from every day). So, I then cleaned some dirt out of the drain pipe and then saw clear water come out about as fast as I poured it in, and thought problem was fixed. But today the problem is still there.
Does that only leave the possibility that the drain plug gets frozen over? If so, why did it just start? The unit works fine otherwise, and does the same thing whether the icemaker is on or off. Would someone please tell me what’s going on? Is it not defrosting often enough? Thanks a lot.
