transmission/brake replacement not going so well

So I’m down to trying to remove the nut to separate the tub from the transmission shaft. Problem is the brake is obviously broken apart or otherwise not functioning in the current assembly because the tub just keeps spinning when I’m cranking on the wrench. I should mention that I opted to not go for the spanner wrench on the website but I have an adjustable plumbing spanner wrench that I’m using. It’s not doing much good though as I just haven’t been able to get that nut to move. I’ve also used a lot of PB Blaster and even tried heat. No good. Any suggestions?

There isn’t any mechanical brake on this washer. You need to use a spanner wrench and hammer to get this nut off. This is reverse thread so go clockwise to loosen nut. Wack the spanner wrench with the hammer while holding the tub from rotating. If it won’t break loose, you will need to cut it off with chisel or dremel tool. Not too difficult as it is made of aluminum.
