Tub/Basket turns and sqeaks during agitation cycle

during the agitation cycle, the basket will move with the agitation and squeak every time it moves. From reading, I believe that a brake needs replaced or repaired? I am looking for the part and part number for what needs replaced.

It’s either your brake rotor or stator probably. maybe both. Neither is a difficult change but require a special tool to remove due to a large spring that must be compressed during the process. You may be able to just sand or clean them and stop the squeak if you can find/borrow/steal the tool. Your local appliance repair parts shop might have a tool loan program also.

There also may be a way to do it without the tool, I’ve never had to try. Look on youtube, I’m sure someone has worked out a way, safety be damned!

It’ll be 13 and 15 on this diagram

It’s also possible that your brake cam is misbehaving due to wear, lean the machine back so it is safe to work under. You’ll need to pop the white cap off to view the cam under it. The white plastic pulley should rotate easily in one direction but the other it has to lift the brake rotor off the stator to allow the machine to spin. There is a arrow molded in that indicates how far it can travel under normal operation. There is a kit for this repair also on that page I linked above.
