I have a Maytag Dishwasher, Model No. MDB7601AWS, Quiet Series 400. The problem began about a year ago. At that time, you could select your cycle, close and lock the door then be unable to initiate a wash cycle. Various unusual number letter combinations would appear on the timer display. Resetting the power would sometimes be effective and sometimes not. However, after an indeterminate delay, a start could be initiated. This condition would appear once or so every couple of months. Now, I can select the cycle, close and lock the door, but cannot start the cycle, and the time display is blank. The delay start does not function. I saw the schematic, but it is unreadable. Can you e-mail or post PDFs of the schematic and trouble shooting tips? I have seen references to these documents in other responses, but the links no longer work. I would like to narrow down the problem before I purchase a replacement part. Thanks for the help.
I am having the same problem. I have a new control panel but I need help installing it.
I had help removing the bad part a few weeks ago but now that the new part is here my helper is nowhere to be found. Where does the shorter ribbon connect? I have no idea where it was disconnected from- everything else is a snap.
Please help… I am so ohsoclose to having a working dishwasher again!!
Amy
I have looked inside mine but not removed the control panel yet. I assume you are talking about the narrow ribbon cable which goes to the bottom right corner of the board (looking at it as if you were inside the dishwasher with the door closed). I can take a photo, but that will not happen for a couple of days. If you want, send me a photo and I will point out the connection points.

I FOUND IT! I went to take a picture when I realized the smaller ribbon connects inside the circuit board. It was a snap once I took that cover off.
IT WORKS!!! Thanks for prompting me in the right direction!
Glad it works. Did you replace the part with new buttons on top edge and face of door? What was the part number? I thought there might be two different parts needed?
Thanks,
