My washer agitates while the water is filling up in the tub. Which means that the wash cycle is shorter. While agitating, there is a loud noise.

I have a Whirlpool washer that is doing the same thing. Agitates while it fills and has the loud noise which kinda sounds like a gear grinding. Replaced the timer already but that did not help at all. At least it was only $40 wasted. Model WTW57ESVW0 :mad:
If it is agitating while filling this means the motor is receiving power, which it should not. Check the wiring and see if there is a short or ground some place in the wiring to the motor.
