washer freezes up when spin out burned belt

My washer started making a clicking noise when spinning. everything worked well but just the noise. Then it squealed and i saw and smelled the belt burning. what could be wrong:confused:

Tilt the washer back and remove the belt. Turn the main pulley and the drain pump pulley in both directions. Post the results.

I did that Gene, it has three pulleys, all turned well in both directions. Belt was really burnt and melted to the plastic pulley. I really dont know what to do. It won’t pump out now. Wonder if it’s worth fixing?

It might be just a bad belt. The part is very inexpensive and it’s worth to give it a try.

If the transmission pulley got damaged, then you have to order the thrust bearing kit too.
