This is a two year old washing machine. It was in a flood, about 5 inches of water. We moved it to higher ground to keep it from getting damaged. While moving it the top came off so we hooked all the wires back together and put the ground wire back where it belonged. The problem is it fills, drains, and runs through it’s cycles just fine it just won’t agitate or spin at all. Any help? Thanks!
Hi Janise
Your model number will not come up, so I am not sure what type of washer you have, but I think my advice would be the same regardless of which type of washer you have.
Unfortunately that advice is to scrap the machine and replace it with a new or good used washer. The most likely problem is that you had water remaining in the motor or motor circuit electronics and have shorted it out. There may also be corrosion damage and other problems.
I think you are looking at replacing the motor and maybe some other expensive parts, and given that you have water damage you cannot be certain that the fix will work, or if it does, how long it will work. There is also the possibility that trying to operate the machine will lead to some type of electrical hazzard.
The costs, and risks and work required here iare not worth the benefit of saving the cost of a replacement machine.
Sorry I could not have better news, but good luck and let us know what you finally decide.
