Will fill and drain but not agitate or spin

Hi Guys,

Not sure how old this unit is, it was here when I bought the place. As mentioned, the unit will fill and drain but not agitate or spin. Replaced the capacitor (looking for a quick fix) but that did not work. The motor seems to be getting power but will not engage in any way. Am I looking at a new motor? Thanks!

Not sure how old yours is but back in 2000, the same thing happened to my washer. Turned out to be a wig-wag, a type of solenoid. If one of the wig-wag solenoids engages, the washer will agitate. If the other solenoid enages, the washer will spin. If neither is engaged, the transmission is in a neutral state and will pretty much fill and drain.

All my coworkers (mechanics at the time) told me to buy a new machine. I ended up fixing it with this part! I went under the machine and noticed that if I put the tracks (this is how it switches from agitate to spin) in one position, the machine would spin. In the other track, the machine would agitate. I explained this to a part’s store and the lady told me it sounded like the wig-wag. Viola! Bought the part and saved a few hundred bucks! But like I said, this was 2000, twelve years ago and I’m not sure if yours is that old. Look up wig-wag and see if your make/model has one. Good luck!

No, this model does not have a wig-wag solenoid.

New Motor did the trick!

Niiiiice!!
