My washer is fairly old, but I haven’t had any problems till now…it has started leaking and the tub doesn’t move during the spin cycle…the little part up at the top still goes like crazy, but not the rest of it. Any helpwould be appriciated…i dont want to call a repairman as buying the same brand would only cost me 298, but I would like to avoid any huge expenses so close to after the holidays ![]()
As a side note…I THINK that is the model number. The other number that was on the machine is cu5121571 just in case. Please help…!
This is coming up as a Whirlpool direct drive made machine sold under the Maytag or Admiral brand.
You first need to take off the cabinet and run it to see where the leak is. This video will show you how (your screws are in the back of the console).

If the water is leaking from the center, it has probably gotten into the transmission and a new machine might be the better solution. If the water has not leaked into the transmission, check the clutch.
but it won’t go through the cycles without the lid for me to see where it is leaking from?? When I took off the cabinet, the outside layer of the basket is full of water. I dont think that is supposed to be like that…![]()
Use a small solid insulated wire to by-pass the lid switch. That should get you back in business
