Washer not spinning

My Whirlpool LSR7333PQ0 will seldom spin on it’s own. I can turn the tub CW and CCW to get it to spin. Some times it takes a couple attempts to make it spin. I disassembled the washer and looked at the motor/tranny/clutch assy. I could barely see in to the brake/clutch area. I was tempted to use a spray lube like WD-40, I didn’t spray anything. I did clean between the drum and tub with hot water. I am thinking the clutch/brakes may be the issue. Need some pointers.

I did find the replacement clutch assy for about $125 plus tax + shipping. I don’t have any special tools to remove the agitator if needed, do I nee to remove the agitator?

Hi,

Not sure what you were looking at for $125, but here is the clutch for your washer.

I would try and run it with the cabinet removed so you can watch the clutch.
You will have to jump out the lid switch to do it.

The clutch could be slipping, you could have something caught between the basket and outer tub or the drive block under the agitator could be stripped out.

I had the cabinet off. There is only about a quarter inch of clearance to to see the break area. While I had the cabinet off the dang thing spun fine, I figured it thought I was the repairman and would run fine. Like when you bring your car in to the mechanic.

The parts assy I was looking at had a shaft, clutch and breaks. To check between the tub and basket I would need to remove the agitator, no tool to remove it.
