washer stops in the after beginning spin

My washing machine has worked great until just last week. Now, it will start the spin cycle, spin for about 5 seconds, then the basket lurches sideways and stops spinning. I know it is not the belt, because we just replaced that today and the problem persists. Any suggestions would be most helpful! Thanks loads.

In spin cycle, does it make a click or clunking noise

Must the heating element be submerged in order to heat water properly (mine is not - does that mean there is not sufficient water supply?)?

I am unable to start the oven. Most of the controls work, but not all. I would like to test the switches on the control panel to see if they are functional. I have removed this panel and checked switch operation with an ohm meter, but without an accurate wiring diagram, I can not confirm the failure source. This is the same wiring as 3 other models starting with GW395LEP. Can anyone provide a wiring diagram or a source for one? Please, Ron

Thank you for your suggestion, but part #26, on picture#6 for my oven is a cover-rear. The "start" button does not seem to be working on the control panel. When the clock button is pushed; the start? light comes on in a few seconds, but pushing "start" does not change anything. Pushing "cancel" clears the start? light. Ron

I appologize I meant #23. But with your added info, it sounds like a control board or a touch pad issue. I guess no code is coming up? Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com

No codes are showing up; that is why I am looking for the wires on the ribbon connector that correspond to the touch pad switches so I can check their operation. Ron

Thank you both, Tom and Gene. The tech sheets gave me the failure/error code: E1 -F2- The "membrane tail" is seated in the connector on back of control and failure code remains: so, "replace control". The membrane switches, or "touch pad", to the connector pins, or "membrane tail" , is what I was trying to check; but even the tech sheets do not provide this detail. So how do you determine which is bad: the touch pad or the control board ? Buy it and try it? Ron

Gene, The tech sheets that you provided showed me how to get the error code by holding the off/cancel button for 5 seconds - "Hidden Functions". Top of page 2 under "Hidden EOC Functions" The error code wasn’t showing previously. Ron

Ron,

There is a 65/35 chance for the control panel and the control board to fail. I would replace the control panel first. Both parts are expensive, but Whirlpool did not supply us with any better instructions.

Here are the break down diagrams and parts list for the Whirlpool range http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=935358&&model_id=5133106

The temp in the freezer is 0 degrees but the thermostat was at -2 degrees

How is the fan in the freezer works?

If there is nothing wrong, I would replace the temperature sensor (#22 on the diagram) first.

Gene.

Hello Gene, Thanks for the advice. Can you tell me where the temp sensor is located. I can not tell from the diagram. Phil

Phil,

It should be on a side wall, behind a cover (#23).

Gene.

Hello Gene, Thanks again for your help. I looked in the freezer and fridge sides and cannot locate the temp sensor. There is nothing that looks like the diagram description. Phil

Bottom igniter lights but top igniter does not come on. Gas does not flow to top or bottom.

I have a PSC23NSTDSS serial # RL449436. It’s only 3 years old and my wife noticed that the refrigerator side wasn’t cooling properly. It is set at 35, but the digital reading says its 49. The freezer is set at 0, but it says its 2. The ice is melting in the ice maker. Please help!

Thanks,
Chris
