It appears the coupling is bad between the motor and the transmission.Need the steps on how to remove and replace.Appears to me all hoses have to be removed and 3 bolts through the transmission below the tub for the whole assembly to drop out??

On the bottom left hand corner of the control panel in the front is a phillips head screw. Take it out and the one on the other side. Then flip back the control panel.

Then there are two brass looking clips one on the right and one on the left that are holding the cabinet to the back panel. Remove them.

Then grab, the cabinet, and bring it forward, and set the whole cabinet aside.

Take the 2 hoses off the pump, and then remove the 2 clips that hold the pump on off. Then pull the pump straight off.

Now you need to take the wiring harness off the motor, and if there is a start capacitor on the right side, take the 2 wires off of it. Then remove the 2 clips that hold the motor in place off. (Some models have a screw holding the brackets on, if so remove them, and pop the clips off) Remove the motor.

Take the coupler section off the motor, and off the transmission, and clean both shafts up a little.

Now, I use a spark plug socket on an extention, and I use a hammer to pop it on the shaft of the transmission. Just pop it on, just where a tad of the shaft of the transmission is sticking out.

Now do the same to the motor.

Now put the rubber section on the transmission part of the coupler.

Make sure all the rubber mounts are on the motor.

Have both of the clips that hold the motor in place right next to you.

Put the bottom clip on motor rear plate.
13 Now line up the motor, and slide the coupler end on the motor into the open slots off the rubber that is sitting on the transmission.

Once you have it in place, pop the bottom clip on the holds the motor in place.

Now get the other motor clip, and lower the motor just a little, so you can get the upper clip on.
15 Once you have it on, plug the wiring harness up to the motor, if you have a capacitor, plug those two wires on, if those clips had screws holding them on, put them on.

Now, alighn the motor shaft up with the pump, and slide it on the motor shaft, and put the 2 hoses on.

Now get the cabinet, and start sliding it back in place. I usually open the lid, and make sure the front of the cabinets fits flush under the front frame of the washer.

Then in total feng-shui, LOL!!! Make sure the back panel plastic mold which is mounted on each side of the back panel, fits flushly on the inside of the cabinet, and hold it there on one side, and slip the brass clip in the slot on the back panel, and then pop it in place on the cabinet top. Do the same on the other side.

Now, Lower the control panel down, and put in the 2 phillips head screws.

Plug her back in, and drop that baby in a spin cycle, and off she goes.

Have a Whirlpool Gold III, it will no longer agitate or spin. Would the coupling be bad between the motor and tranas be bad?

removed the coupling and it appears to be somewhat loose on the shaft of motor…it is not tight…

sometimes this dryer works fine. next time you set everything and push
the start button and nothing happens, other times it can be running and
stop in the middle of the cycle and cant get it restarted. then you push
the start button it might start and it might not. the door switch seems to be fine.
Sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere.
I would unplug it and check the connections at the unit’s terminal strip.
When it will not start try wiggling the plug at the wall receptacle could be a loose connection at the receptacle or in the plug itself.
The stopping mid cycle sounds like it could be the motor overheating and tripping it’s internal thermal protect. You then have to wait for the motor to cool down before restarting. But this does not explain why it will not start when cold, usually the motor will buzz if it has problems starting when cold.
