Washer won't spin clothes adequately

My washer seems to have a difficult time spinning dry the clothes. Mainly I believe it’s just having a hard time getting going. If I help it get started by hand it will get them dry enough.

One behavior I’m unsure of is that when agitating it only agitates in one direction, it doesn’t rock back and forth. If I hold the agitator and try to keep it from spinning it will actually rock back and forth like I believe it should.

I’ve replaced the drive coupling and the old one looked fine.

What is the most likely cause for this, and how can I verify it before I buy the parts?

Thank you for the help!

Looks like there are two separate problems: agitation and spin.

To fix the problem with the agitator you have to order the agitator repair kit. This kit has the video installation instructions.

The slow spin can be caused by a bad drive block, a bad clutch or brakes.
