Washer won't spin, It's not the clutch, brake, or lid switch.

Hello,
I have a Kenmore model 110 that intermittently will not spin. It spins when draining but stops spinning prior to rinse. If I lift the lid and close it, it will start to spin again. It will also start to spin if I turn the machine off (push the timer button in) and restart (pull the timer button out). I have replaced the clutch and checked the brake and motor coupling and they are both good. I have also bypassed the lid switch and that does not help. I am thinking that it’s the timer. Any advice? Also, how do you tell which timer is used for this machine, the web site lists several timers.

Thanks

We need the complete model number. The 110 just means it’s made by Whirlpool. When it stops spinning when it shouldn’t, is the motor still running? Humming? All quiet?

The complete model number is 110 26812690. The motor sounds like its running when it’s not spinning. As I mentioned, I’ve replaced the clutch.

Thanks

The timer you asked about is this one. The normal chain of events is after agitation it should start draining without spinning. After a minute or two of draining, the motor should pause for a few seconds and then start again and it should start spinning while continuing to drain. Does it stop spinning in the middle of the normal spin period or does it just not start spinning when it should? Either way, you need to remove the cabinet and jump out the lid switch so you can observe the clutch during operation. When it is supposed to be spinning but isn’t, and the motor is running, check the clutch hub. If it’s spinning and the tub isn’t, then either the clutch is slipping, there’s a problem with the basket drive or the drive block is slipping. If the hub isn’t spinning and your sure the motor is running and the motor coupler is good, then the gearcase is bad.
