Washer agitates but doesn’t spin. Motor is running but the drum does not spin. Anyone know what I need to do and parts to replace?
It’s a fairly common problem with these Whirlpool made washers (Whirlpool owns Roper). Most likely, your washer doesn’t spin because of a broken motor drive coupling. The coupling seats between the washer motor and the transmission and it consists of three parts, see photo below. Usually, one of the teeth would break off or the rubber cracks and falls apart. I’ve attached instructions on how to get to the coupling, check it and replace it if found broken. Begin by unplugging the washer power cord and removing the cabinet. The drive coupling is number 13 on this diagram).
The coupling has been improved by Whirlpool and is now reinforced with metal: AP3963893
