Water in Kenmore HE3 Washer

I have a 4 year old Kenmore Washer & for the last year I’ve had to empty water out of the bleach & softener dispensers after each wash. The bleach dispenser is completely full of water & has overflowed into the softener dispenser. I do not use either bleach or softener. Do you know what would be causing this problem? Thank you.

Hi Denise

What happens on your model is that except for a small amount that washes over the door, all of the water that enters the machine comes through the dispenser. You have a small motor there that diverts the water to the proper dispenser trey when that additive is needed in the washer. This means that water flows through the bleach section whether or not you have added bleach.

What is likely happening is that there is a clog in the water line coming out of the bleach section, and when water tries to come through when the control unit calls for bleach, it is blocked and backs up.

Take off the top cover by removing the screws in the back, and see if you can locate the tube coming out of the bleach section and clean it out.

That should fix your problem.

Good luck. Let us know what happens and if you need more help.
