water pump

While replacing the motor coupler, I noticed that the pump doesn’t spin
freely. There is a fair amount of resistance. I can turn it with a tool inserted in the hub. The unit works, but I wonder if it should be replaced.

Thank you for your support.

Well I am not sure how much resistance you are talking about but this type of pump doesn’t spin freely anyway even new ones. Obviously if it is too much resistance the motor will not start and it is possible it will happen but it isn’t common. Hope this helps!

Thank you applianceman. You have confirmed what another friend told me.
Apparently, the resistance is caused by the internal seals, and if it spun
freely, it would probably leak as well.
Thanks again. I just saved about $ 40
