What part Do I need to fix problem?

I have an electric dryer and I know the switch needs replaced in the door. But I also have another problem and it’s not a venting issue because the place I rent replaced the vent yesterday!

My dryer is not drying my clothes properly on high heat for sure. After doing a few loads, it’s not drying on Medium heat very well anymore. I need to know which part I need to replace. Is it possible the heating element is going out? Or is it possibly something else, such as the thermal fuse? I do not have money for somebody to come look at it and then charge me for parts and labor on top of it. If I could get some advice and have somebody tell me what part to replace, I would greatly appreciate it. i called a local appliance place and they said "If it’s blowing heat, then it’s not the heating element. Is it possible it’s going out? What would cause it not to dry my clothes properly and still heat blowing out? I need to know. Somebody help me!!

Sincerely,

Sandra Swatzel

Hi Sandra

Even though the external vent was replaced, the problem is likely inside your dryer. You need to open it up and clean out the area from the lint filter through the blower through the vent opening of the dryer. Obstructed air is the major cause of long drying times.

You also need to make certain the blower is operating correctly. Your heating element is probably ok.

If all this is clear and you still have the problem, you can check the heating element, and your cycling thermostat would be the next thing to replace.
