Whirlpool Control Board W10406070

I had been getting PF on my oven LED for quite some time now when the other day I turned the oven on and then the LED went blank. Oven lights still came on and I still got beeps when pressing the buttons, just the oven wouldn’t heat up (series of beeps, one short, one long, 3 short). I checked the circuit breaker and after an internet search I found it was most likely a faulty control board.

I ordered a new one and after installation found the same problem – no LED, lights and noises worked, but no heat and the series of beeps. I compared the two control boards and found the following:

  1. Below the ribbon cable are two large transistors, R91 and R92 that appear to have bright orange (burn?) marks where they meet the PCB.

  2. At the top right of the PCB, directly horizontal to the ribbon cable are a series of chips/transistors (Q2B, D73, R188, R162) that have these same bright orange marks.

I checked with stock photos of this control board on the internet (and this site) and found the photos do not have these marks.

Do you think I have gotten a bad control board? I do find it rather coincidental that the same marks appear on two different boards, making me think there could be another issue with the oven, but after comparing them to stock photos I also think the board I ordered is also bad.

I have attached the photos to see if the marks mean anything.

Thanks for any and all assistance.

Hi.

Get another control board. If you got the board from APP there wont be any problem returning it back.

Thank you.

Simon.
