whirlpool double oven control board burnt out?

Went out of town for a few days and when returned noticed that oven display showed F2 E6 I believe. Was able to clear and reset clock. The next day the display was blank and could not reset. Checked 220 breaker with no results.
Had a appliance repairman check it. He said that the control board was burnt out probably by the top convection oven door not closing because of bad door hinges, which he would also have to replace. He said he would order the parts.
The next day we noticed that the clock was back on. I tried both ovens and they are now working. My question is if the control board was burnt out, why would the ovens be now working? I also question that the top convection oven, which we seldom used, had faulty hinges. It seems to seal like the bottom oven! What is your recommendations. By the way Merry Christmas!
