Whirlpool Dryer Not Starting

Hello,

I have a whirlpool dryer that stopped working this week. I can set the timer (and hear it ticking) but when I push the start button and I get nothing. The light comes on in the dryer and I know it’s getting power but the motor isn’t responding.

I started by replacing the thermal fuse and that didn’t work. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Jason

To get to the heating element on most of these dryers you remove the back dust cover:

Thanks for the reply, Sublime. I’ll take a look at the heating element for that fuse.

Look for the skinny white one with 2 small wires mounted on the blower housing. The small wires carry no heating current, they connect with the door switch and when that fuse blows it is as if you opened the door.

I have a Whirlpool GEQ9800PW2 dryer and the start button does not start the dryer. It is getting power but the dryer never starts. It does not start on any of the settings.
Thanks.

Thanks. I’m having problems getting the back panel off. Do you know if I need to go in via the front panel on this model? Whirlpool Gold GEQ9800PW2
I removed all the screws but it does not budge and seems fused to the side panels.
