Whirlpool Dryer Not Working

My dryer stopped working. It has power. I changed the thermal fuse.I want to change the thermal cutoff but the part on my machine has been discontinued and the new part has two pieces to replace the one on my machine. How do I replace one piece with two.

Hi Bobby

I think you are referring to the fact that the Mfg recommends you replace the thermal cutoff and the hi limit thermostat together and so they are sold together. Is this the two parts you are referring to?

If so then use the thermal cut off to replace yours and go ahead and replace the hi limit thermostat at the same time. Click on your model number to see an exploded diagram if you need to.

Good luck, let us know if this answers your question.

The part for 42 in the diagram has 2 cable posts on it. The part on my dryer has 4 cable posts.

Hi Again

Your initial post talked about replacing the thermal cutoff, which goes on the heater element shield and is in diagram 48.

Here is a discussion of the various thermostats and thermal fuses in a basic Whirlpool Dryer. Scroll down the page to read about the Whirlpool dryer. See if that helps.

Good luck, hopefully this will clear things up.
