My Whirlpool dryer won’t heat. I’ve tested the thermal fuse, heating element and thermal cut-off for continuity. All check out. The component that doesn’t however is the dryer cycling thermostat. It has four leads and one set doesn’t have continuity. I haven’t seen anything in these threads about this part affecting heat however. Also, should the actual coils on the heating element have continuity?
I flipped the breaker multiple times and i’ve checked the voltage coming into the dryer as well. It’s a four prong and it reads 240 across all three wires and 120 across two.
OK,
The left to right side should be 240, the left to top and left to bottom should be 120 the same with right side and top and bottom. the top and bottom together should be neutral.
You may also want to check the motor. the black & red leads into the motor check for continuity- take the belt on the shaft to spin the shaft hard enough to make the switch engage. the motor should have continuity during the shaft spinning, if not that’s why it’s not heating.

Ok, i forgot to mention this earlier and i don’t know why. The motor is fine. The dryer runs, it just won’t heat. Also, would the part i mentioned in my first post effect the dryer heating?
Where exactly is the part you are calling a cycling thermostat? The model number given doesn’t have one. Does it have a part number on it?
You may also want to check the red & black wire on the terminal block on the back of the machine, make sure you are getting 240 there. If not it could be in your cord.

Ok, that’s your problem it’s called a thermostat fix on the breakdown from Whirlpool. Part number AP3131939 from here.
That should get you going.

Ok. Thanks a ton for all the help. I just ordered the part and I’m hoping that does the trick.
You’re welcome. That should do it! While you have the back off you may want to vacuum out the interior and clean around the fan to help frevent lint fires. It’s suggested to do that once per year.

Start button won’t work—worn out. With a lot of pressure/wiggling it starts. Plastic cover very worn at start button. [SIZE=3][COLOR=RoyalBlue]What parts of the control panel do I need to replace?
