Whirlpool dryer won't start

whirlpool dryer won’t start - have power - checked continuity on door switch, thermal cutoff, hi limit and power button - all OK - any other ideas - the only thing that doesn’t check on continuity is operating thermostat - checks on red wires but not on violet wires - could this causes dryer not to start -?

Here is the wiring diagram

Operating thermostat will not effect start.

When you checked power, did you check L1 to Neutral. You need 120 volts here.

When you checked continuity did you remove at least one wire from the device you were checking, to prevent reading an alternate/parallel circuit path?
Also dd you use the most sensitive resistance scale?

Your start circuit path is: NEUTRAL , DOOR SWITCH , PUSH TO START switch , MAIN and START motor windings , THERMAL FUSE , BU/BK timer contacts , L1

thanks for the reply
do have 120 volts and did remove one wire before continuity check and used most sensitive resestance scale - haven’t checked motor windings - cant figure out how to get to motor - wouldn’t the motor hum and try to start - unless it went completely out? - just checked bu/blk timer contacts - OK - have fixed before - has always been thermal fuse _ have a service guy coming out this morning - will keep you posted - thanks for the help

Sounds like you have checked the full circuit except the motor.

Could be that the motor overheated and it’s thermal protect did not reset.

just fixed it - tightened up terminals on power cord started for a second - had an extra power cord - replaced - now it works great - appreciate all of your help - played with it for two days - ends up being the cord - figures
