Got the famous F1 code on my Whirlpool Duet dryer. Knowing that F1 indicates an error with the control board, I pulled it off and sure enough found a burned spot on the board. I used the re-soldering trick that is out there and dryer now works again. But for how long? Everything I read on this code says to just replace the board. But what is actually going wrong with the dryer that makes the board fry like that? I’d hate to buy a new board just to have it go bad as well. Is it just that particular component on the board that went bad or is there something in the dryer (motor, heating element, etc.) that is causing the board to short out?
