Greetings one and all.
Prior to posting I did do a quick search on my machines model number, found two previous threads, none of which though pertained to my issue. So please forgive me if this matter has been discussed ad nauseam.
I returned home last night to somber faces; while I was out a member of our family inadvertently broke the latch on our front loading washer while attempting to get the door open.
As it was explained to me: he said that the washer had finished but the door would not open; ‘muscles’ kept pulling any way & eventually the plastic latch on the door could resist no more, gave way, and the door opened. There was no moment of silence for the departed latch.
What he found when removing his clothing though was that the wash was not done; the final spin had not completed, his clothing were still dripping wet and there was in fact still a small pool of water in in the tub.
So now I am faced with replacing the door latch, seems easy enough once I locate one, but also, giving muscles the benefit of doubt that the machine was not still in wash mode, I need to find out why it did not complete its task and release the door. He did not notice any code on the display and none show up when the washer is plugged in again and the power turned on.
Hence I would appreciate it if some wise Whirlpool wizard could give me ideas and instructions on the task ahead.
Removing the bellows partly around the door I was able to access the back of the lock mechanism, pull the release tab & pry the remainder of the dear departed door latch’s corpse from its grasp, but that is about as far as I got.
Anyone game?
Thank you for your time.
Have a Magical Day.
