Whirlpool Duet front loader won’t drain and gives no repair code. Washer shuts down as if load is finished but there is still water in tub. Took out filter and found 2 coins. Took out half of wet load and tried again. Less water left than before, but still about an inch.
You might have a tech in your area run it thru a diagnostic check(highly recommended).
Or you can attempt:eek: it yourself by doing the following after emptying the washer completely:
With the control in the off position.

If you do the diagnostic yourself post any error codes.

Thank you, Libertyappl, so much for replying so quickly.
As instructed, I pushed the Control On button. I did not push the Hold to Start button.
Then I selected Drain/Spin and No Spin.
Then I pushed the Rinse/Hold button 4 times within 5 seconds.
The washer cycled from C:00 through C:08 (01, 02, 03, 04, 05 ,06 , 07 , 08) and then went to Cycle Complete. There was no water left in the tub although there had been a little bit (about 1/4 cup) in the tub when I started the procedure.
Now, what does this mean?
I forgot to say initially that when I was going through the cleaning out the drain procedure, I unplugged the washer and tried to catch all the water that poured out. I did not turn off the hot and cold water valves as the washer was already unplugged, but when I went to check it the next day, the tub was completely full of water. It never gets this full in use; it looked like a top loader instead of a front loader and filled up my huge wet/dry vac. almost three times. Needless to say, the water has been turned off since then. I turned it on for the test and then turned it off again. Is that something that should always be done when the washer is unplugged?
Ok, that additional information really helps. It seems you have a leaking water valve part #AP3128776 should take care of your problem.
Nat
how long does this self test take? will it fill up the washer completely with water?
I just check the filter and hoses and see no clogs and when I plugged in it was still in the spin/drain cycle… would not spin made humming noises.
no code posted when problem occured yesterday?
Check your pup for an obstruction, we’ve seen socks, underwear and all sorts of things get into the pumps which could cause this problem.
After replacing the pump it still wouldn’t drain. Thought about it for a couple of days, verified that the pump was working as it should and thought that it might not be getting any water.
Took off the piece coming from the bottom of the tub (where there is a ball float valve) and it was completely clogged with a HUGE hairball.
Wash, rinse, repeat – works like brand new now.
Also might help with the mildew problems that people are talking about.
