My icemaker quit working. I checked to see if there was any water in the despenser and there was not. I replaced the water inlet valve at the bottom of the refrigerator but still no ice. What now?

Okay I replaced the thermostat. It started working, at least the motor started and it has put water in the icemaker. I’m waiting for ice. One more question. You didn’t mention I needed the aluminum putty for the back of the thermostat. Do I need it or is it going to work without it?
i’M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY ICE MAKER, IT WILL NOT MAKE ICE AND WATER RAN ALL OVER. i HAVE ORDERED A nEW ICE AMKER, TO SEE IF THAT WILLL FIX THE PROBLEM…
I finally got the aluminum cement for the thermostat. I applied it and put the ice maker back together. As soon as I plugged it in the icemaker started to cycle. It put water in the mold and the water froze. The icemaker never got any further in the cycle. I know the heater is working. The only other thing I know is to repalce the module. Any suggestions???
Hi Hilton,
Try to bypass the test points "H’ & "T" to see if the motor will work.
If it wouldn’t then the motor is bad and your choice is to replace the module assembly or the whole ice maker.
I would replace the whole ice maker even if it’s more expensive just because it’s more reliable.

I have Whirlpool Model# ED5LHAXMQ10 and it has been stopping mid-cycle. I have run the optics test and diagnostics on the ice maker as described in the service manual as well as the multi-meter tests; everything checks out fine. The problem is that: during harvest, the "forks" stop just before the ice dumps and they stay there, or the harvest will complete and the water will fill up and then the "forks" disengage and get submersed in the water before it freezes… and they just stay there, getting frozen into the ice.
Any ideas on what I need to replace?
Many thanks!
Hi string6uru,
I would recommend to replace the ice maker.

I am sure that replacing the entire ice maker would solve the problem, but do you have any idea what component would be causing this behavior? I am pretty tight on cash with my new baby here and would like to see if I can correct the problem without dropping $150 on it.
Thanks for your time and interest!
Based on my experience and this forum, the rate of success for ice makers repair is less than 40%.
It is very possible you will spend a lot of money buying parts and finally end up buying a new ice maker.
If you would like, we can proceed with the troubleshooting for the ice maker, trying to fix it. It’s up to you.

I have an old HEATALATORgas fired fireplace and the valve went bad.
the new robert shaw valve is the same as the old one except the jumper wire for the magnet ithink it is called,is not the same as the old one.
The old one has a thermocoupler threaded into where the jumper wire goes.
what is the installation method for this new valve. Should Iremove the old thread in thermocoupler or is their a new wiring process??
Can you help me with this??
refrigerator motor got wet when it was unplugged and will not work
ice maker receiving water but does not make ice
You have two totally different valve. The older valves were powered by a thermopile only. The newer valve is designed for quick dropout pilots that have a thermocouple and thermopile. These quick dropout pilots came into general use in 1995 and are found on gas direct vent fireplaces.
You cannot modify the valve or you will void the warranty and listing. Get the correct valve from HL by providing them with the model, serial # and mfg. date code (4 digits next to serial #).

Hey gene,
My whirlpool icemaker quit working. I have replaced my water inlet valve and tested it at the module. Doing this i got water into the icemaker but it wont do it by itself.
Any suggestions?
