Our top loader bangs loudly during the spin cycle (not sure which part), most of the time. Re-positioning the clothes and loading carefully doesn’t make a difference.
I opened the top and the tub ring is broken in spots. I hear pieces were found in with the clothes. My wife also seems to remember finding a spring in the wash a while back, and just thought it was from someone’s pocket. The unit has two springs(connected to the suspension rods and the top of the tub), both on the right side, one front, one back, seems wrong to me(thought if there were only two, they would be diagonally opposite) but I can’t find a diagram which shows where they should be so I don’t know if I’m missing any on the left side or not. The tub seems to be slightly favoring the right side by about a half inch or so.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
More info: I just watched a video on Appliance Pros about replacing the centering springs on a Whirlpool top loader, didn’t give the model, but it only has two springs, both on the right side. Also have seen some posts about the suspension rod assemblies. I saw a post stating to do the bounce test, which I did, a couple of the rods seem to bounce where as the others go down and spring right back to where they started. Don’t know if that’s meaningful or not.
Also…should the whole tub assembly be able to be moved enough to touch the sides of the washer cabinet?
Thanks
