Whirlpool Washer Spin Problem

Hello,

Our washer has gradually stopped spinning. It is about a year and two months old. It started to not spin about 50% of the time, and now, after about 2 months, it is very rare that it spins at all. Our clothes always come out soaked and unable to dry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to fix this.

Thanks,
Jon

To get to the spin.

First check the switch lid if lid switch is broken washer on spin. If ok.

secong check the coupling motor they usually get worn out.

is located between the motor and transmission.

look for any foreing object between you tub and your basket.

Jon,

What does it do when it should spin?

Does the motor run?

Does it drain?

I hear a humming sound when it is supposed to spin instead of the normal spinning sound. It does drain I believe, but my clothes do come out a bit soapy sometimes. I don’t know if the motor runs or not, but the humming may indicate something.

How do I check the lid switch?

If you heard a humming sound is either, foreing object is inside your water pump or your motor stoped working.

Remove motor and remove pump. remove hose from water pump and look inside, usually small sox get inside there.

do you know how to jump out the lid switch.

Hello,

Thank you for the help. I did test the voltage between T & H and got nothing, any ideas. I did do a jumper from M & N and the gear & arm turned. I also installed a new circuit board and heater core. I also tested the valve by jumping the ends directly to the 120v plug and water did run into the icemaker.

Thanks,
Tim
