Well, sounds like you have had some problems with Whirlpool appliances. Sorry that has happened, and a little surprised since I recommend them more than the others.
Those of us who reply cannot access your invoice because we are volunteers and do not work for APP. But we like them and think they provide good parts, great service and just about the best prices on the net.
Anyway, back to your problem, which is not going to be easy to diagnose from afar.
I suggest you take off the cabinet, by-pass the lid switch and start the machine. You are looking to see if the motor stops, or if it continues and the agitation just stops. You are also trying to isolate the source of your humming, is it the motor, the pump, the transmission??. Diagnosing noises is just about the hardest part of remote analysis like this.
Anyway, see if you can give us some info and maybe we can figure this out.
