whirlpool washer ultimate care II

Started the washer as usual. Left the house for two hours. Upon returning the machine was still in it’s original cycle. Moved timer manually and machine proceeded to work. That is until it got to the next setting. In order to get the machine to work I have to manually move the timer.

I can hear the timer clicking when left alone. However when rotating the dial I receive very little resistance and can not hear the familiar ratcheting sound.

Does this mean the timer has went bad?

The timer is almost certainly the problem. Replace it and you should be all set.
