My Whirlpool dishwasher Quiet Partner II model DU 1100 has been having problems with:
a) clean light blinking
b) not washing the dishes well
c) when I press the NORMAL button, the light does not get turned on
After reading many posts and responses, I narrowed down the problem to:
- heating element problem - checked continuity and it’s definitely bad, needs to be replaced
- thermostat - turned out to be ok
- electronic board (some lights don’t always get turned on) - visually checked it and looks fine
- control panel (some lights don’t always get turned on) - visually checked the membrane / ribbon - looks fine
QUESTION
I know that the resistance is bad but am not sure if the electronic board and / or control panel are also bad. How can I check without first buying the heating element that the board and control panel are good or not good ?
I worry that if I buy the heating element, the washing machine will still not work and I’ll have to buy a control panel and / or electronic board or both (expense might not be worth it) on top of that …
Can I disconnect the leads to the heating element, connect the leads (short them), connect the washing machine to power, and press the NORMAL (without pressing START afterwards) button and see what happens ??? and see at least whether the NORMAL light goes on or not … now the normal light does not get turned on when I press it. Or will connecting heating element;s leads to one another (bypassing the heating element) mess things up all together ? IF so, can I connect the heating element leads to some other resistance ?? does this resistance have to be exact as the resistance of the original heating element ? Does the control board sense that resistance?
I appreciate the answer
