will not start

refridgerator will not start it make a clicking noise and sorry i put wrong model# it is hss25gfpj-ww

Locate the main control board on the back of the refrigerator. Check for 120 VAC between the terminals J8 & J7-9 (orange) while the control calls for cooling.

If there is no proper voltage, replace the main control board.

If the voltage is correct, remove the start device from the compressor and shake it. If it makes a rattling noise then it is definitely bad and has to be replaced.

Gene.

I don’t believe in such miracles with GE refrigerators. So, I’m afraid it will do it again pretty soon.

yes water dispenser works can you tell me where and how to check the line

Hey all, new here, have a issue with my refridge. Do a bit of searching, found some info, but not sure if is the problem.

So a run down of what I have done and checked, noticed

Last night I cleaned the freezer side out. Had the door open for some time, so initially thought that the condenser was froze up, the fridge had not yet went into defrost mode over night. However through out the day it has not gotten colder. I pulled the panel of the coils in side the ice box, they are dry as can be no ice on them. The fan in the ice box runs, stops when I bump the temperature up on the ice box side. So the fan is working in the ice box. Next I cleaned out from under the fridge, also checked to be sure the fins on the back were clean which for the most part was. I noticed that the compressor has not kicked on in some time, I am not feeling any air movement under the fridge like in the past. So this leads me to think the compressor is either bad or the relay to trigger it is. Am I on to the right thing here ? Currently I have the unit unplugged, to possibly reset anything that may have happened( long shot I know lol) This unit is ruffly 4-5 years old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
John

So it would seem after having the fridge unplugged that the compressor would come on,then kick off after a few mins, only cooling it so far, then the fan just keeps running in the ice box. Could the thermo be bad ?

Thanks
John

Anybody ?
