Wont remain running

Replaced heating element about a month ago and ran well.Recently after about 10 minutes the dryer turns off. Also mild squealing sound(Belt?)The pushbutton to start also wont start the dryer at times. Not sure if worth putting $ into it or just replacing the dryer.
Not sure if its an Thermostat problem or a starter switch problem.
Any help please let me know. Greatly appreciate the info

If you have to wait several minutes for it to restart, sounds like the motor is overheating and tripping it’s internal thermal protect.

Also mild squealing sound(Belt?)
More likely a rear roller, an idler roller, front glide or motor bearings.

The pushbutton to start also wont start the dryer at times.
Does it make any noise at all? If it buzzes this is the motor trying to start.

My guess would be a motor problem.
Could be the starter switch for the start problem but not for shutting off by itself.
The thermostat cannot shut the motor off.

I would try rotating the drum by hand, it should turn fairly easily.
Perhaps is is jammed and is overloading the motor.

Here is a good site

could it be on of the fuses?

No if a fuse is blown it is blown so the unit would never start.

I removed the 3 screws holding the heat deflector shield to back of dryer wall to clean and when reattaching there is now a loud thumping noise when dryer is turned on.What do I do?

You probably messed some thing up inside, if it is not on correctly. You might have to go inside now, to see what’s up!!! Tom http://www.applianceeducator.com/parts.htm
