My GE washer did the whole thing where it stops spinning and agitating with the burning smell. I took the front cover off and hand cranked the motor and belt (while off, of course) and it turns. After I did that, the washer did agitate and spin for about 5 cycles. Then it stopped again. I’ve also seen it stopped but then watched it slowly manage to crank on when I opened and closed the lid during the spin cycle.
So the question is: is this definitely a case of my motor going or might it just need to be lubed up somewhere in there?
