5 yr old maytag neptune

I have a Maytag Neptune washing machine. About 5 years old. At the end of the wash cycle it shuts off but water continues pouring into the well. The washer overflowed…over the top of the well, down the inside, and out from underneath. I can run a light to medium size load but have to use the water shut-off valve the minute the load cycle is done. Any ideas?

Hi,

I own the machine and DIY repairs on the machine. It’s really a very easy machine to work own except for the Drain Pump/Pressure switch location.

The Inlet Water Solenoid valve may be stuck open not seating properly.

The Pressure Switch may not be signaling the Control Board to close the water valve when proper fill level has been reached.

But let’s start off with the easy test first. If you pull the 120VAC power cord from the [FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual](http://www.fixya.com/support/t5268400-maytag_neptune_washing_machine_about_5"]service outlet will water flow stop?

DIY’If we need to troubleshoot further are you a er that’s wants to troubleshoot to the fail point of the issue? We may need to go into Service Mode and check for proper Pressure Switch signaling to the Control Board. Just requires montoring the depth of water fill in the Wash Basket and the transistions displayed for Pressure Switch signaling to the Control Board. See page 15 of the SM for those Pressure Switch signaling conditions.

If your not a DIY person maybe we can supply the Service Company info for parts they will need. The 1st two digits of your Serial Number is the Series number of your machine. The Pressure Switch is series sensitive if it comes down to a pressure switch issue.
