Maytag Neptune fav6800aww overflowing

I have a Maytag Neptune, FAV6800aww. After finding a room full of water, I pulled off the front panel and watched a cycle. Machine ran normal until the last fill up/rinse/spin(at 10min on screen). Tub was empty at this point. As it filled again, I immediately noticed the water level filled too high, almost to the top of the tub. As soon as it began to spin, water began splashing over the top of the tub, down thru machine and onto the floor.

Following some posts, I trouble shooted the water inlet valve and finally replaced it. Just ran another load and same thing happened. Tub filled way too high and over flowed when the last spin cycle started.

Side note: Last week, just prior to this condition, the wife said there was a weird noise coming from the washer. I followed the noise to the pump. Took pump out, disassembled and found a quarter rattling around in the pump. Dug it out, pump spun fine, reassembled.

In need of some professional advice!!!
thx much,
Dan

Replace the water pressure switch and make sure the hose connected to it is clean.

Dan I agree with that diag. You can go into service mode and watch for the pressure switch transitions page 16 of the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual

You can find the SM with a Google of the SM P/N 16022808 Rev. 0

The pressure switch sets above the Water Pump left hand side of the machine at the back a real PITA to access. I’ll attach a pic of the Outer Tub removed for an Outer Tub bearing replacement I did on my machine a while back.

Couple of pics on my Maytag sump cap fix for coins, bank cards and any other crap that can get by/thru the sump cap on it’s way to the drain pump impeller. It’s a lot easier to drop the sump cap out and clean out then fight with a drain pump jam issue…Dick
