Hello,
I have an issue with my Admiral Washing Machine. Everything seems to work fine except the machine will not spin on the spin cycle. It seems like you can hear the motor turn on but the machine will not spin. The machine drains with no problems and everything else seems to work fine. I have checked the lid sensor as I saw that could be a problem but that seems to be working just fine. What do you think the issue could be? Thanks in advance.
You need to remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch so that you can run the machine and see whats going on. Run it in spin mode and observe the clutch hub. If the hub is not spinning then either the gearcase is bad or the motor coupler is failing. Remove motor to check for broken coupler. Sometimes even with a failing coupler, it will still agitate but won’t spin. If clutch hub is spinning, look up into brake hub above the clutch to see if basket drive is spinning. You would see the brake shoes and brake spring rotating. If clutch hub is spinning but basket drive is not, then either the clutch band is faulty or there’s a problem with the brake cam driver. If the basket drive is rotating but basket is not, then the drive block is faulty.
