Another F1 error question

Hello
I have the GE builtin oven 12 years old and has F1 error code. Serviceman told me I need new control panel part wb36KI 58, (which btw no longer available can you belive). Question ,Is he correct or is the problem the control box part WB27K5210. seems like other posts suggest its the elecronic box and not the panel that causes the F1 error code
Thanks

It’s possible for either the keypad or the controller to create this error. The test is to shut off power to the oven, unplug the keypad connector (flex connector, be careful not to crease or damage it, there is a black connector on the board that the flex plugs into … there are small tabs on the connector on each end that you can release by pulling away from the board with your finger nails … doesn’t take much force but releases the tension on the connector so you can pull the flex circuit with almost no force) … then apply power to the oven. If you get an F1 after awhile … it might take 30 minutes … the problem is in the controller. If no F1 the problem is the keypad.

In the event it’s the controller we may be able to help you. We repair no-longer-available oven controllers.

Best Regards,
