Hi,
In the past couple of days we have seen a near total failure in the freezer section of our Samsung side-by-side. The top of the freezer side, where the icemaker sits, is completely room temperature (72-75 degrees). On the bottom it is bravely maintaining three of the shelves at between 15-25 degrees. The front sensor reads 72 and there is no unusual noise. The refrigerator side is fine.
We aren’t the original owners, and so it looks like we are out of warranty. But, when we had a service call out, they almost immediately gave up saying a new evaporator coil is needed. (They were nice enough to not charge a thing for the opinion.) So, it looks like we are effectively ‘totaled’.
Is there any point in moving forward or obtaining a 2nd opinion? Also, is there any reason not to keep it as a garage fridge? Thanks for reading.
