I am helping my neighbor there is no ice or frost behined freezer wall. After I plugged fridge back in it went into a defrost cycle. I replaced the cold control thermostat. he said its still running non stop but I dont have the time to sit there. Did I mention they are very senior citizens. Even if I dial down to # 1 or less its still running( so he says). Yes it turns off when I dial down to off, keeping in mind its doing the same thing with the new part.
Hi WoodChuckie: Yes #1 is the warmest and 0 is off. My neighbor called me and he said ,yes it makes ice fast but it only cycles off when it goes into defrost mode. Maybe they sent a bad control. Can I ohm it out? I replaced it the same way the old one came out. I noticed what looked to be a second set of terminals on the cold control solinoid area, is that relevant?
compressor always on…I double checked the freezer back wall and noticed that only a portion of the evap coils had frost on it. This now tells me that there is a sealed unit problem and not a thermostat issue. Time to buy a new fridge. remember cold control was replaced defrost timer is ok and heater and sensor ok. I hope you agree.
