Dryer only runs with start button depressed

Hello,

I recently purchased a clean used washer / dryer set, the Maytag Dependable Care units.

The dryer quit working and I noticed the drum turned rather stiffly. I replaced the rollers and glides. That was not enough as later it finally would only buzz and stall. So I replaced the motor. I ran a few loads through it and it worked fine.

Tonight it would start quietly but would not run without the start button being held down. I managed a way to hold the start button down so as to dry the load, but I cannot help thinking that is a bad idea. The clothes dried.

What is wrong now?

Was the replacement motor you installed a new one?
Sure kind of sounds like a problem with the motor yet.
