I am having trouble with my dryer overheating. it will run for a couple minutes and then will shut itself off. I have cleaned the lint trap and made sure the hose to the outside was clear.
I have also replaced the thermal cutoffs, but it still has the same problem.
I have run the dryer without the hose connected and it will still shut off after a couple of minutes.
I am assuming that after it shuts off you have to wait several minutes before you can restart it.
This is a symptom of the motor overheating.
Try running if with no heat (air only) to see if it still shuts down.
Could be that hot air is blowing back onto the motor.
Try turning the drum by hand in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. You may want to try this on a couple other dryers to get a feel for it.
Could be that the drum is dragging and putting too much load on the motor.
Odds are that it is the motor as rickgburton said but the above are worth a shot.
