I noticed a few weeks back that when I set the timer to Permanent Press or Regular, the dryer would run for a few hours, but the timer would not move. I replaced the timer, and now it seems like it is moving a little. But I think it may be reacting to the fact that the heat keeps turning on and off.
When I first start the cycle, the dryer gets pretty warm, but then it can run for three hours and still not finish. What I did notice the last few times I tried it was that I could smell natural gas coming out of the exhaust vent outside after it was running for a while, then the smell would go away. So I’m thinking it may be with the gas valve itself or with the igniter. I also see that a lot of people have problems with failing solenoids as well.
Any idea which part(s) may be bad? I don’t want to keep randomly replacing parts - eventually its going to add up to the cost of buying a new dryer!
Thanks!
Pete
