Kenmore 79095889301 range, purchased in 2003 so it is 11 years old.
Last night in the middle of preheating, the oven made a LOUD POP with a flash and tripped the breaker. We were thinking the element went out.
When we put the power back on, the stove top works, the oven does not. It BEEPS constantly with an error code of F1 on the clock. Hit stop, the time returns for a few seconds, then the F1 and beeping resumes.
I searched online and see that the F1 code most likely means the EOC board is out. We are guessing the element and the EOC went out together??
Sears wants $80 to schedule a service call, plus whatever it costs to repair. They can’t come out until 5 days from now. I don’t want to waste $80 on a service call for them to tell me it’s $300 to fix…
My dumb question is – opinions? Is an 11 year old oven worth fixing?? is there a chance it is a cheap fix… ? Or should I go buy a new oven (I have the cash) this morning and be back into baking this afternoon…
